FOSSICK & FIND

What do a modern minimalist and an avid collector of vintage finds have in common?

Despite the obvious differences in personal taste they share a strong determination to seek out certain objects and style statements that define something personal about themselves. They have the passion to Fossick & Find the extraordinary.

At Jumping Tangents we believe that when people remain true to themselves and confidently present what they honestly and simply enjoy, then an admirable sense of style often results.

Can it really be that simple though?

We need to look harder today to achieve a sense of what we truly enjoy. There is so much media out there telling you what you must have to enjoy life, how you should look and what trend you should follow to be "somebody". It is quite bizarre really - we have all been somebody ever since we entered the world.

Creativity studies often lead you back close to that point of entry to locate where your personal pattern/inherent gifts lie. What triggers are there from those early days that you remember exciting you without you needing to define them? Let me give you an example.

On our website one of the categories is called "yay-yays special treats". Now what kind of a name is that for anything?

In truth it is a tribute to my mother, Bobbie, that goes back to my early days. Yay-yays is a nickname for sultanas in a cup. Sultanas mind you, not raisins. Bobbie used yay-yays to quiet or distract one or some of her ten children, or many grand children. They were always put in "special" cups. Mum would fossick and find them way over the back of the "cooking cupboard". Even if you hated sultanas the genuine enthusiasm that they came with was contagious.

So an interest began to grow within me. A passion for the exotic, gifting, simplicity and pretty cups.

The thing to remember is never ignore simple and genuine pleasures they are often our strongest leads.

Everyone associated with Jumping Tangents or those who shop or subscribe with us will most likely be a fossicker and finder - seeker of the extraordinary.

Welcome aboard... we value your company.
