an authentic goose quill, richly dyed and fashioned for fine writing and fun a unique and romantic gift for everyone especially harry potter fans

in the middle ages, monks and kings wrote on parchment (tenned goat skin) or vellum (still born calfskin). the writing instrument they used was a quill form a goose, eagle, swan, duck or turkey.

ink consisted of mineral pigments mixed with gum (tree sap) and water.

charlemagne was the first to institutionalise "caroline" lettering, which was common to all european countries.

now you know the history enjoy the sensation of writing with a fine goose quill, complete with caroline lettering examples and we suggest you partner it with some fine ink from j herbin too.
